SSC CHSL Exam 2024 – The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) announced the Combined Higher Secondary Level (10+2) Examination 2024 for Group-C posts like Lower Divison Clerk(LDC)/Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Data Entry Operator (DEO)/DEO Grade ‘A’.
There are a total of 3712 vacancies available for these posts. Candidates with 12th pass qualifications can apply for these posts.
Interested and eligible candidates can apply online from 08 April 2024 to 07 May 2024.

SSC CHSL Recruitment-Detailed Eligibility:
Educational Qualification:
- For Data Entry Operator (DEO)/ DEO Grade ‘A’ in Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Ministry of Culture: 12th Standard pass in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board or equivalent.
- For LDC/JSA and DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ (except DEOs in the Department/ Ministry mentioned above): Candidates must have passed 12th Standard or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University
Age Limit(As on 1 August 2024):
- The age limit for the posts is 18-27 years.
- Candidates born not before 02-08-1996 and not later than 01-08-2005 are eligible to apply.
Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST Candidates – 5 years
- OBC candidates – 3 years
- PWD candidates (13 years for OBC, 15 years for SC/ST) – 10 years
- Ex-Servicemen (ESM): 03 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age.
- Defence Personnel disabled: 03 – 08 years.
- Central Government Civilian Employees: Up to 40 – 45 years of age.
- Widows/ Divorced Women/ Women judicially separated and who are not remarried: Up to 35 – 40 years of age.
Salary Details:
- Lower Division Clerk (LDC)/ Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA): Rs 19,900 – 63,200/- (Pay Level-2)
- Data Entry Operator (DEO): Rs 25,500 – 81,100/- (Pay Level-4) and Rs 29,200 – 92,300/- (Pay Level-5)
- Data Entry Operator, Grade ‘A’: Rs 25,500 – 81,100/- (Pay Level-4)

SSC CHSL Selection Process:
- SSC CHSL Exam Pattern will consist of a Computer Based Examination (Tier I) and (Tier II).
Scheme of Tier-I Examination:
- Tier-I Examination will consist of Objective Type, Multiple-choice questions only.
- The total duration is 60 minutes, and the Maximum mark is 200 for 100 questions.
- There will be a negative mark of 0.50 for each wrong answer.
- The questions will be set both in English & Hindi for Part II, III & IV

Scheme of Tier-II Examination:
- Tier II will be conducted in three sections (Section-I, Section-II, Section-III) having two modules each (Module-I, Module-III)
- Tier II will be conducted in two sessions – Session –I & Session II, on the same day.
- Session I will include conducting Section I, Section II and Module I of Section III.
- Session II will include conducting Module II of Section III.
- It will be mandatory for the candidates to qualify for all the sections of Tier II.
- Tier II will consist of Objective Type Multiple choice questions, except for Module II of Section III
Section-I:
- Module-I: Mathematical Abilities
- Module II: Reasoning and General Intelligence.
Section-II:
- Module-I: English Language and Comprehension
- Module II: General Awareness
Section-III:
- Module-I: Computer Knowledge Test
- Module-II: Skill Test/Typing Test
- The questions will be set in English, Hindi, and any language the candidate chooses in the application form except for Module II (i.e. English Language and Comprehension module) in Section II.
- There will be a negative mark of 1 for each wrong answer in Section I, Section II and Module III of Section III.
- Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.
- Module-I of Section-III, i.e. Computer Knowledge Test, is mandatory but qualifying.
- Module-II of Section-III, i.e. Skill Test/ Typing Test:
- Module II of Section III will include conducting a Skill/ Typing Test in Session II on the same day.
- Skill Test/ Typing Test will be qualifying.
- Skill Test/ Typing Test will be evaluated per the evaluation guidelines on the Commission website.
- Errors in the Skill Test will be calculated up to 2 decimal places.
- Skill Test/ Typing Test will be conducted as per the following scheme:

Skill Test for Data Entry Operator:
Part A – Skill Test for the post of DEO/ DEO Grade ‘A’ in Department/ Ministry:
- The ‘speed of 15000 (Fifteen Thousand) Key Depressions per hour on the Computer will be adjudged based on the correct entry of words/ key depressions per the given passage.
- The duration of the Test will be 15 (Fifteen) minutes, and printed matter in English containing about 3700-4000 key depressions will be given to each candidate, who will enter the same information into the computer.
Part B – Skill Test for the post of DEO/ DEO Grade ‘A’ except in Department/ Ministry:
- Data Entry Speed of 8,000 (Eight Thousand) Key Depressions per hour on Computer‟ will be adjudged based on the correct entry of words/ key depressions per the given passage.
- The test will be 15 (Fifteen) minutes, and printed matter in English containing about 2000-2200 key depressions will be given to each candidate who will enter the same in the computer.
Part C – Typing Test for other posts, i.e. LDC/ JSA:
- The medium of the Typing Test will be Hindi or English.
- The candidates must opt for the medium of Typing Test (i.e., Hindi or English) in the online Application Form.
- Candidates opting for English medium should have a typing speed of 35 words per minute (w.p.m.), and those opting for Hindi medium should have a typing speed of 30 words per minute (w.p.m.).
- 35 w.p.m. and 30 w.p.m. correspond to about 10500 key depressions per hour and about 9000 key depressions per hour, respectively

All interested and eligible candidates must register on One Time Registration(OTR) and then apply online using the official website from 08 April 2024 to 07 May 2024 (23:00).
