• പത്താം ക്ലാസ്സ് പാസായിരിക്കണം.
• എം.വി. ആക്ട് 1988 പ്രകാരമുള്ള ഹെവിഡ്രൈവിങ് ലൈസൻസും മൂന്ന് വർഷത്തെ പ്രവൃത്തിപരിചയവും ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കണം.
• മലയാളവും ഇംഗ്ലീഷും എഴുതാനും വായിക്കാനും ഒരു കണ്ടക്ടർക്ക് ആവശ്യമായ കണക്കുകൾ കൂട്ടാനും അറിയണം.
• വാഹനങ്ങളുടെ പ്രവർത്തനത്തെപ്പറ്റിയുള്ള അറിവും വാഹനങ്ങളിൽ ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന ചെറിയ തകരാറുകൾ കണ്ടെത്തി പരിഹരിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള അറിവും വേണം.
• തുടർച്ചയായ 12 മണിക്കൂർ വരെ ജോലി ചെയ്യാൻ ആവശ്യമായ ആരോഗ്യവും കാഴ്ച ശക്തിയും വേണം.
